The Story Behind the Bottle
Champagne Vieille France has over 250 years of history. Starting with prized vineyards in the Côte des Blancs, Léon Le Brun founded the house in 1860 and the business remained in the family for over 135 years. In 2003 the Rapeneau family took charge, vowing to give the wines a new lease of life and as a mark of respect to its origins, they reintroduced the 18th-century styled bottle which they use today. The superb Vintage Brut comprises 60% Pinot Noir, plus Chardonnay, from Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs. As befits this great vintage, the Champagne is elegant, long, well-structured and complex, with notes of apricot and fig, rose petal and a tight core of minerality. Superb on its own, yet rich enough to be a great food wine too.
