  • Burgundy 2024
A vintage defined by adversity and ultimately triumph.

The 2024 Burgundy vintage will be remembered as one of the most challenging in living memory – yet also one of the most rewarding. Against a backdrop of relentless rain, rampant mildew, and devastating frost and hail, growers fought tirelessly to salvage their crops. Yields are dramatically down, but the fruit that survived benefitted from a long, slow ripening season, delivering wines of remarkable purity and balance.

The whites are truly exceptional – precise and on point, echoing the great vintages of 2014 and 2017. Believe the hype, as these are special wines that could only have been made in Burgundy. The reds, though scarce, offer vibrant, energetic expressions of true Burgundian Pinot Noir that beguile with their tenderness and soul. For me, they are just the type of Pinot Noir I like to drink, and really the only advice here is – be quick.

Volumes are painfully small, yet the wines reward with restraint, freshness and a true sense of terroir. It’s always hard to generalise, but 2024 is a vintage for those who value definition and elegance, offering up wines to savour now and ultimately treasure in the years ahead.

What is meant by 'En Primeur'?

It means reserving top vintages before they are bottled. By paying an instalment ‘up front’, you reserve wine while it is still in the barrel, before the wines are shipped to the UK during the course of 2026 and early 2027.

How does payment work?

Now you need only pay the ‘cellar door’ price. Prior to delivery, we will invoice you for the second instalment (duty - around £2.67 a bottle at today’s prices) plus VAT on the total. Delivery (currently £7.99) is also applicable, unless you are a member of Unlimited. Alternatively, you can keep your case stored In Bond or Duty Paid in our state of the art temperature- and humidity-controlled customer storage facility (currently £12.60 per case per year).

The advantages of 'En Primeur' buying

Demand for fine wines is always high as there simply isn’t enough to go around. En Primeur guarantees you an allocation of the finest wines at opening prices - providing you are quick!

Reservation certificates

Once we receive your order we will send you a Reservation Certificate to your customer address. If the wines you have chosen are SOLD OUT we’ll contact you to advise which are still available.
