Forget ordinary, mass-produced Côtes-du-Rhône. This half dozen comes from three of the region’s elite producers, each offering huge weight of fruit and spice alongside peerless depth of flavour. First up you’ve the outstanding Le Temps Est Venu from Stéphane Ogier – “a no-brainer purchase” says The Wine Advocate. Then there’s the purple fruit, crushed rock and violets of biodynamic Vacqueyras from Domaine Montirius. Lastly you’ve Manus Dei de Sixtine Châteuneuf-du-Pape. “Full-bodied, powerful, rich and oozing character” says fine wine guru Robert Parker.
