The Story Behind the Bottle
The wines of the Mâconnais region not only offer exceptional value for money for Burgundy, but quality is now right up there with the much more famous wines of the Côte d’Or. As the Independent says, it’s “home to some fantastic, high-quality white wines – which are much cheaper and can be much better value than the Grand and Premier Crus in the northern parts of the region”. Mâcon Villages Ephémère is made by Les Vignerons de Mancey, a group of 80 growers, most of whom only have a hectare or two, who have joined together to make some of the region’s best value wines. With bright orchard fruit flavours, floral notes and a soft, rounded finish, it’s a great match for roast chicken, a creamy risotto or fish pie.
