Critic Tim Atkin MW wrote, “Duncan Savage thinks he hasn’t hit his full potential yet. Heaven help his rivals when he does.” Duncan first made his reputation at the 5-star Cape Point winery. There, his wines won many awards but, after 14 years, he decided he wanted to go out on his own and has been creating just as much of a stir with his terrific wines. He has a tiny cellar in Cape Town, working with growers with the best vineyards. One such grower was Boetie – they were great friends, but sadly Boetie died. Duncan was truly gutted but felt the best way to remember him would be with a wine made from his grapes. Hommage à B is pure, lightly oaked Syrah from Boetie’s coastal vineyard, with intense, sleek black fruit and a jig of freshness.
