Flavour Profile
Domaine Felettig is today regarded as one of the finest estates in Chambolle-Musigny. It’s run by brother and sister winemaking duo Gilbert and Christine Felettig, who represent the second generation of their family to craft fine Burgundy.
The estate was founded by their father, Henri, in 1965 when he inherited three hectares of vines. He then set about expanding his holdings slowly, a few rows at a time. And today, Gilbert, his daughter Pauline and Christine are responsible for a total of 12.5 hectares, in over 100 plots, spread across a swathe of Burgundy.
The plots responsible for this fine, expressive Pinot Noir from lieu-dit La Montagne are in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Organically raised, and tended and harvested by hand, the grapes are whisked to the cellar – a winery completed in 2019 – for a gentle pressing, before even gentler oak ageing.
Open the bottle early, decant if you can, to let this fine red Burgundy shine. It’ll be sublime with roast chicken with morel mushrooms or soft cheeses.
