Flavour Profile
We’re always on the lookout for great-value Pinot Noir – and Double Gold, 96-point Fogbound is a superb example.
Fine parcels are sourced from select vineyards across Sonoma County, where the Pacific Ocean plays a key role in California’s ability to craft fresh, vibrant Burgundian-inspired wines .
And while Pinot Noir is notoriously tricky to grow, it thrives in Sonoma County. The coastal influence helps keep the region relatively cool, extending the growing season and helping grapes develop rich flavours. A layer of fog rolls inland (hence the wine’s name), helping grapes retain their bright acidity and natural freshness.
Back in the cellar, the wine is aged in French oak for 20 months for added depth, complexity and smoothness. The result is a silky and refined red wine with aromas of cherry and clove. Expect red and dark fruits on the palate, subtle hints of forest floor, supple tannins, and a long, elegant finish.
Fogbound makes a great glass solo – and it’s a top match with salmon, roast chicken or vegetarian dishes.
