This Barolo hails from Serralunga – one of the region’s most highly prized crus, renowned for its powerful, structured reds that age beautifully. It’s made by a historic, pioneering winery in Serralunga d’Alba, using pure Nebbiolo from old vines grown at 350 metres altitude.
Aged in barrel for 30 months, it reveals complex aromas of plums, violets, balsamic and spice. Silky and rich, with vibrant red fruit and firm tannins that promise years of graceful ageing.
James Suckling writes “poetically reminiscent of the legendary 1985 vintage … 2021 has secured its place as a modern classic.” And the beauty of this vintage is that it’s not only seriously ageworthy but a joy to drink in its youth.
