The Story Behind the Bottle
Crystallum, founded in 2007 in the coastal Hemel-en-Aarde region of South Africa, has quickly become one of the country’s most respected producers of cool-climate Pinot Noir. The 2024 Peter Max has aromas of damson, cherry and wild strawberry, layered with cocoa nibs and a subtle savoury earthiness. On the palate, vibrant rhubarb and cranberry notes, followed by sumptuous dark chocolate and maraschino cherry, all underpinned by grippy, fine-grained tannins and a long, dry finish. Critic Tim Atkin MW awarded it 92 points, praising its “juicy, supple and engaging” character. Perfect with duck breast, mushroom risotto or grilled salmon.
