The Story Behind the Bottle
One of the most talented winemakers in Bordeaux today, Pierre Lurton acquired 18th-century Château Marjosse in the 1990s. Although Château Marjosse is located in the Entre-Deux-Mers, its limestone soil terroir is strikingly similar to that of Saint-Émilion, just across the river - a terroir Lurton was already very familiar with. He's the owner of the celebrated Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru, Château Cheval Blanc. He built an ultra-modern cellar in 2000. The estate has doubled in volume since Lurton’s acquisition. This is a terrific Merlot-dominant blend, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Ripe berries and cassis, with layers of dark chocolate, liquorice, and supple tannins. A beautiful pairing with roast chicken.
