The Cider
Bassist in top Britpop band Blur, Alex James had a passion for food and wanted to make a difference. He moved to a farmhouse in the Cotswolds and began to make artisan cheeses. Then, delicious local brews, like Britpop cider. For centuries, Alex explained, France has been showcasing what they can do with grapes. Britain’s speciality is apples though, with hundreds of traditional varieties to explore. He teamed up with the Burrow Hill cider company, cider makers at their 250 acre farm in Somerset for 300 years. All their fruit is grown organically, too. This cider is the perfect expression of the fine Somerset fruit – light, with a gentle sparkle. It makes perfect refreshment anytime – equally well through summer or at a Christmas gathering.
