The Story Behind the Bottle
Long:

Portugal boasts an impressive array of luscious, decadent red wines that are packed with rich black fruit flavours, like Portinho do Côvo. Made by star winemaker Jaime Quendera, it captures the bold ripe fruit of the Setúbal Peninsula.

South of Lisbon on Portugal’s Atlantic coast, the Setúbal Peninsula is famous for its rolling Atlantic waves and its long-lived, fortified sweet wines. However, the sunny climate, tempered by cooling ocean breezes, is also proving itself with bold, fruit-forward red wines.

Jaime firmly believes in the region and is dedicated to bringing it to the world’s attention. He says “I love being able to create, blend and shape my wines – I strive always to produce the best wine possible.” Indeed, he was the man behind the ‘Best Red Wine in the World’ a few years back.

This 2024 is a sumptuous blend of native Aragonês, Castelão and Alicante Bouschet, all harvested from old vines to produce a wine brimming with spiced black fruit and juicy berry flavours. It has a luscious, full-bodied character that is ideal with roasted red meats.
