Or perhaps it’s just the simple charms of this supple, fruity, easy-going red wine. It’s made from little-known local varieties nurtured by the many small family growers in this remote part of France. They pool their resources, taking their grapes to the shared cellar in Laure Minervois.

Made with Marselan for its supple, ripe raspberry and cassis notes and Caladoc for its dark, spicy plum flavours, Pigassou is herb-scented, fruity, delicious and informal.

Serve cool or at room temperature with charcuterie, grilled lamb chops, rustic cassoulet or even a simple pizza. It’s the perfect partner for relaxed, no-fuss dining.
