Flavour Profile
They’ve done it again. The same mischievous flock of birds that helped inspire our No.1 bestselling Merlot have now played their part in Mirlo Blanco.
This fresh, citrus‑bright white comes from Cariñena, a quiet, sun‑baked corner of Spain just southeast of Rioja. Grapes ripen beautifully here – so beautifully, in fact, the local blackbirds (mirlo in Spanish) can’t resist swooping in to pinch the ripest berries.
For the winemaker, the moment the birds start feasting is the signal to pick. Then it’s a race: harvesters dashing to whisk the grapes into the cellar before the birds eat them. The reward is one of the most deliciously fruity whites you’ll taste.
“I can honestly say it was one of the loveliest wines I have tasted in years,” wrote one delighted customer in a five‑star review.
Fresh and citrusy with peach and nectarine notes, it’s ideal with pasta in creamy mushroom sauce, a quick stir‑fry or a roast chicken.
