Fonseca Vintage Port 2000
Top scores galore for this rich, complex and powerful 2000 from one of the finest port houses. Neal Martin of Wine Advocate writes, “The millennial Fonseca is still a young pup” and praises its “rich blackberry, cassis and liquorice-scented nose”.

The Story Behind the Bottle
Fonseca lies firmly in the top league of port houses – regularly scoring highly with critics and much loved by customers. Since its first vintage release in 1840, it has consistently produced outstanding ports. As James Suckling wrote, “The Vintage ports of Fonseca are perhaps the most consistently great of them all. Not only do they have a striking fleshiness and powerful richness when young, but they retain that youthfulness for decades.” Parker calls them “the Pomerol of Vintage port.” There’s certainly no hurry to drink the 2000 – a field blend of the Douro’s top grapes, grown across Fonseca’s three estates: Cruzeiro, Panascal and Santo António, each bringing its own character. Ideally, tuck this one away until 2030.
