The Story Behind the Bottle

Croft acquired the famous Quinta da Roêda estate in 1889. This exceptional property is often referred to as the jewel of the Douro Valley and continues to produce some of the region’s finest ports.

In 2001, Croft returned to family hands when it was purchased by Taylor Fonseca and is today part of the Fladgate partnership. They’ve made significant investment in the vineyards and especially the flagship Quinta da Roêda estate

The 2005 is fully mature and drinking at its peak. As you’d expect with a port of this age, there will be sediment so decant before serving. “…an enchanting bouquet of black cherries, violets, rose petals, blood orange and garrigues. That garrigues quality infuses the palate, which is full-bodied and muscular, quite firm tannins with layers of black fruits and a touch of blood orange waving au revoir on the finish” 94 points, Neal Martin.
