The Story Behind the Bottle
Founded in 1849 Pol Roger is regarded as one of the top Champagne houses, renowned for wines of great finesse and style. Winston Churchill was a great ambassador for the brand and there's a special cuvée named after him. He was one of their most loyal customers, and even named a winning racehorse after Odette Pol-Roger, the wife of Jacques Pol-Roger, head of the firm. From a vintage described as “truly exceptional” (Decanter), the 2018 Brut comprises 20 parcels of Grands and Premiers Crus grapes in the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, aged for over 5 years before release, which has added to its depth and complexity. The long creamy mousse is said to be due to the depth of the ageing cellars. Superb fruit, spice and elegant minerality.
