Out of fashion for the last two decades, Beaujolais is now firmly back on trend. And it’s easy to see why with this elegant Cru Fleurie. Born from the terroir’s granite rich soils, this top Cru is known as ‘the Queen of Beaujolais’. This cuvée uses grapes from a single grower, Laurent Coulon, who’s vines are rooted on the superb lieux-dits La Tonne and Les Labourons. Facing south, the Gamay grapes bathe in morning sunlight, ripening them to juicy perfection. Winemaker Jean Michel Casadella was taught how to tend these prized grapes by his grandfather down in the Languedoc. Now drawn north, he knows just how to accentuate Gamay’s elegant, fresh fruit qualities with a floral lift and silky texture. This excellent vintage is pure seduction.
