Flavour Profile
In 2006, Sacha Lichine bought Château d’Esclans in Provence with one aim: to produce the greatest rosé in the world. He named it Whispering Angel.
The château lies just northeast of St Tropez, a historic estate dating back to the 11th century. Lichine is a perfectionist in both the vineyard and cellar. After harvest, for example, the grapes are destemmed by hand and sorted according to his requirements for shape, size, colour and condition.
This legendary pink is made from the classic Provence varieties, Grenache, Cinsault, Vermentino, Syrah and Tibouren, blended to create a wine that has amazed the critics. "The unbroken run of excellence is still intact," writes wine expert Matthew Jukes.
The 2024 vintage is as sophisticated and pristine as ever, with textured berry fruit, rose water and citrus. Serve with fine seafood or delicate vegetarian dishes.
