The Story Behind the Bottle
Pinot Noir is the finicky grape prized in the pricy wines of Burgundy. But Germany also makes thoroughly appealing and complex reds from this grape. And usually at a better value price! In particular the berry-fruit flavours shine in the warmer climate of the Pfalz. Our Buyer was very taken with this tiny yield red from the award winning Rietburg cellar. Founded in 1958, they’ve had half a century to perfect their winemaking skills and you can taste it all in their reds. Yields in 2019 were small but the quality is excellent. Gentle handling of the grapes and no heavy oak, Von Reben sings with pretty berry fruit with a soft edge. It's versatile easy drinking, so enjoy as you like, with roast chicken, creamy pasta or simply solo.
