The Wine
Grapes were first grown on the green slopes of Mendocino County by Italian immigrants, who arrived there in the mid-1800s. Most of the vineyards, 570 in total, of this sprawling region remain today in the hand of family farmers, many of whom have tended the land for a number of generations. Mendocino County is a large area, within which lie 11 individual AVAs (appellation areas), each with distinct conditions. Pescadero Rock comes from Teak vineyard, close to the coast. So warm Californian sunshine is tempered by breezes from the Pacific Ocean. Perfect for producing this citrusy-fresh Chardonnay, with its juicy peach, pineapple and light touch of oak. Chill down and enjoy as a glass anytime on its own, or with poached salmon or chicken.
