The Story Behind the Bottle
A prized white grape of Italy, Vermentino is difficult to find in Australia, but with wines like Spotlight we’re sure there will soon be more planted. The grape typically displays a racy, lemony and herbal character. Fine examples can also be found in Provence, Sardinia and Corsica, too. Spotlight is all thanks to Bob Berton, one of our best mates Down Under for the last 20 years. He’s friends with all the growers in Riverina, so knows exactly what grape and which vineyard is showing particularly well each vintage. That secures him a supply of the best fruit – a good start for any great wine. Packed with lemon, rosemary and passion fruit, Spotlight is best enjoyed young and fresh with barbecued prawns, salmon steaks or fragrant Thai dishes.
