The Story Behind the Bottle

Ed Schild planted his first vineyard in the Barossa in 1952 and Schild Estate now has eleven unique sites across the region. These include some of the Barossa's most treasured vines, among the oldest in the world. His chief winemaker, Scott Hazelden, was recently featured in the Drinks Business Master Winemaker Top 100 list.

The Three Springs vineyard lies next to the original Schild family homestead, 380 feet above sea level. Vines here tend to be much lower yielding than those on the Barossa Valley floor, producing grapes of the very highest quality – as you’ll taste in this wine.

Dave Brookes of the Halliday Wine Companion waxes lyrical about Three Springs Single Vineyard 2021: “Opulent aromas of blackberry, black cherry and boysenberry fruits cut with hints of clove, cinnamon, blackstrap liquorice, black forest cake, dark chocolate bullets, cedar, vanilla bean, olive tapenade and earth” 96 points.

This is a rich, deeply fruited Barossa Shiraz with real polish and generosity. For best results, decant and serve with roast lamb, slow-cooked beef ribs or a hearty mushroom and thyme pie.
