The Story Behind the Bottle
Founded in 1962, Ridge is hailed as one of California’s greatest wineries – under the legendary Paul Draper. And at their Lytton Estate in Sonoma’s Dry Creek Valley, you'll find some of the region's oldest Petite Sirah vines. Some of their plots even date back as far as 1901. Then, after mainly using Petit Sirah to add richness and depth to their top blends, they identified the best parcels for a new wine. A Petit Sirah bottled solo, to let it shine in all its glory. Aged for 16 months in American oak, around a fifth new, this inky, dark wine opens with aromas of cracked pepper, ripe blackberry, violets and cocoa, laced with a subtle mineral note. Silky, well-coated tannins ensure it drinks beautifully now but will reward patient cellaring.
