The Story Behind the Bottle
Telmo Rodriguez presides at one of Spain's most iconic family estates – Remelluri in Rioja. It was founded in the 14th century as a monastery and bought in 1967 by Jaime Rodriguez, who handed it over to his children, Telmo and Amaia, in 2010. Telmo has had a wealth of experience, travelling the world, before he returned to make a difference in Spain. He is something of a rebel, breaking away from the traditional image of heavily oaked Rioja to wines with purer fruit. He has also made it his mission to save Spain’s near-extinct vineyards and native grapes. Remelluri Reserva is his flagship red, a superb, organic Tempranillo, with touches of Graciano and Garnacha. Silky earthy red fruits, sweet spice complexity, all delicately nuanced.
