The Story Behind the Bottle
Oddbird is Sweden’s first and only sparkling wine liberated from alcohol. The grapes are from the Italian province of Treviso, in the Veneto, home of course to Prosecco. Made from the same grape, Glera, and by the same methods, it bears a close similarity. However, after up to 12 months of ageing, it goes through a process to free it from alcohol. It’s the mastermind of founder Moa Gürbüzer, who started up the business in 2013. Her desire was to make the question, “would you like your wine with or without alcohol” as common as “would you like your coffee with or without milk”. We wouldn’t quite go that far, but this is a very tasty choice of alcohol-free fizz for those who prefer it or for the designated driver. Chill, cheers and enjoy.
