País is little-known outside of Chile, but it’s one of the oldest varieties in the Americas and loved by locals for its juicy, easy-going style. This one comes from vines grown on the elevated slopes of the Maule Valley, where clear mountain air and plentiful sunlight make the purest, fruit-laden flavours. And it’s made by Jorge Martinez, winemaker at the award-winning Viña Morande winery.
Light in colour and brimming with bright berry flavour with a hint of liquorice, it’s a red with lots of immediate appeal. Enjoy as a refreshing sipper on its own, as a partner to lighter dishes, with cold meats or, in summer, chilled on a picnic.
