Maison Albert Bichot Fixin 2023
Only 198 left
From the superb Albert Bichot and an award-winning winemaker comes this fine red Burgundy. It’s from Fixin, a small under-rated village just north of Gevrey. Wine Advocate called the wine “ample and fleshy … redolent of cassis, peonies and licorice.”

The Story Behind the Bottle
Albert Bichot is a highly awarded, family-owned négociant dating from 1831. With 100 hectares of vines, they are one of the bigger players in Burgundy, producing pure, expressive wines "that can really surprise" (Neal Martin, Vinous), “elegant and understated, privileging purity of fruit and gentle extraction” (William Kelley, Wine Advocate). Perhaps it should be expected when Albéric Bichot, former ‘IWC Winemaker of the Year’, is in charge. All their wines are organic too. Fixin wines tend to be sturdy and muscular and are often referred to as little Gevreys and, thanks to an excellent vintage, this 2023 has lovely ripeness too. Open early; decant if you can. Or cellar. A superb wine with roasted or richly casseroled red meats or game, or a handsome piece of aged Comte.
