The Story Behind the Bottle

Portugal is famous for rich, warming reds that overdeliver on both flavour and value – and that’s exactly what you’ll get with Lobo e Falcão Reserva.

This luxurious, barrel-matured red comes from Quinta do Casal Branco – a historic estate that’s been in the same family for over 200 years. Back in the 17th century, it was a royal hunting lodge, complete with a falconry, and the king enjoyed the estate’s finest wines when he visited.

Today, fourth-generation José Lobo de Vasconcelos (Lobo means wolf) heads up the property and its expansive vineyards – some of which are over 100 years old.

Winemaker Joana de Lopes combined Syrah, for its lush bramble fruit flavours, with local Portuguese varieties to add serious depth. She matured the wine for six months in French oak barrels – allowing it to mellow beautifully and adding toasty vanilla notes.

Pair this indulgent red with slow-cooked lamb, roast beef or venison sausages with mash and gravy.
