The Spirit

Warming, assertive and amazingly smooth, Glenfarclas 105 is a delicious cask strength single malt that captures the full character of the Speyside distillery in one glass.

In 1865, cattle breeder John Grant purchased the Glenfarclas distillery and adjacent farm, for the sum of £511 and 19 shillings. It was ideally positioned, halfway between his other distillery, Glenlivet, and the Elgin cattle market.

Six generations later, little has changed. It remains in the Grant family, who source their water from the crystal-clear spring that bubbles up from the granite soils at the foot of Ben Rinnes. Over the years they have built an impressive reputation for single malts of exceptional quality and value, and every year win many awards.

When first incarnation of the now iconic Glenfarclas 105 was released in 1968, it became the first commercially available cask strength single malt scotch whisky. A pioneering, robust whisky, it is one of the few Glenfarclas bottlings that doesn’t carry an age statement. The nose offers complex, oaky aromas of stewed orchard fruit and tempting dark toffee, complemented on the palate by dried fruit, candied orange peel and rich baking spices that linger in the finish.
