Flavour Profile
The Camargue is a unique wine region on the southern French coast, home to black bulls, pink flamingos, white horses and a vigneron nicknamed ‘Fougasse’ making extraordinary wines.
We say extraordinary because the vines here grow not in soil, but pure sand. Talk about extreme winemaking, every day is a constant battle against sand, salt and sea winds. But it’s worth it for the cool, maritime climate that brings incredible delicacy, finesse and freshness to the area’s exceptional wines.
It also means Camargue is one of the rare appellations in France where the vineyards are almost all farmed organically, including Fougasse’s tiny domaine.
Made from the ancient, pink-tinged Grenache Gris, Rosé Fougasse is gorgeously pale in colour with whisper-light berry fruit and a crisp, saline freshness. That freshness makes it a superb partner for seafood or try with the local dish of nutty Camargue rice and smoky prawns.
