Faro del Plata Albariño Reserva 2025

You may know Albariño as Spain’s signature white wine, but it’s not the only place to find great Albariño. If you’re looking for something from further afield, Faro del Plata Albariño Reserva is a cracking, citrusy white from Uruguay.
The award-winning Giminez Mendez winery may have won the ‘World’s Best Tannat’ Trophy, but it also excels with the Albariño grape. The cellar was founded 30 years ago by the husband-and-wife team Luis Alberto Giminez and Marta Mendez. Marta is, in fact, one of the prime movers in Uruguay’s wine industry.
The grapes are all grown in ocean-cooled vineyards in Montevideo. They are handpicked and carefully cool fermented with lees stirring to lend a touch of creaminess to the wine's citrusy, pear and peach fruit. Chill and enjoy with pan-seared fish, prawn risotto or creamy linguine. It’s a great glass on its own too.
