The Story Behind the Bottle
The Sartirano family has tended vineyards in Piedmont’s beautiful rolling landscape for four generations, making fine traditional wines, as well as more unusual blends. Above all, they pride themselves on the quality of their native grapes. Barbera is one of the region’s star red grapes, but still plays second fiddle to Nebbiolo. It’s wines are fresh, fruity and often for early drinking – almost the Beaujolais of northern Italy. Added to this is a small portion of Dolcetto to soften (domare means to tame) the wine, and make it fruitier. Domare offers juicy, ripe dark cherry and red plum flavours and a pleasing crunch of freshness that makes it perfect for pairing with traditional Italian dishes. Think pizza, pasta and charcuterie.
