Flavour Profile
Domaine Saumaize-Michelin has attracted huge attention from the wine press in recent years and rightly so. The wines rival those of Burgundy’s much more famous and expensive addresses to the north.
The Saint Véran Les Crèches comes from two plots on chalky soils, covering just over one hectare in total, right at the foot of the Roche de Vergisson and all organically grown. Barrel-fermented and aged for 12 months in French oak, there’s impressive focus, drive and energy with great intensity and a very deep mineral flavour.
“The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with citrus lemon, lime and a touch of flintiness surfacing on the finish. Worth seeking out.” 90pts, Neal Martin, Vinous.com.
