That’s because the fruit comes from 50-year-old vineyards just below Volnay, giving the wine terrific intensity as well as some of the flavour and style of that top appellation. Joseph Voillot is a superb, sixth-generation family estate that is meticulous in producing wines which speak clearly of fruit and origin, while avoiding layers of showy new oak. Étienne Chaix took over the reins from his uncle and Burgundian royalty Jean-Pierre Charlot in 2017. He’s continued Jean-Pierre’s fine work and manages to encapsulate the tenderness and beauty of Pinot Noir like few others. As The Wine Advocate said, "this address comes recommended."
