Fans of silky-smooth, luxurious Pinot Noir from Burgundy need to try Domaine Faiveley Mercurey La Framboisière.
Pierre Faiveley founded his domaine in 1825 and today it's run by the 7th generation, siblings Erwan and Eve. The family have always placed a lot of importance on the quality of their grapes, so have accumulated substantial vineyards holdings. Today, with over 120 hectares, they have one of the largest domaines in Burgundy.
The Framboisière vineyard produces wines with lovely expressive fruit and is one of their most highly reputed. The grapes are pressed and vinified on site in Mercurey. Then the wine is brought to the main cool vaulted cellars in Nuits Saint Georges to be matured in lightly toasted, 20% new, oak barrels for 14 months. A treat with beef wellington.
