The Story Behind the Bottle
Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur is an exceptional estate, with vineyards in Volnay and Meursault. Indeed, it can boast some of the finest Premiers Crus in both. It’s the happy marriage, literally, of Vincent Bitouzet (of Volnay) and Ann Prieur (of Meursault), which explains why they have a cellar in each; making red wine in Volnay, next door to world-famous Lafarge (a relative), and white wines in the Meursault winery. Their aim is to produce an elegant style, restrained in the use of new oak, with a tight structure, so the wines take time to open out. Yields were decimated in 2021, so this is a prized blend of Les Corbins, Santenots and Clos de Cromin. A fine racy Burgundy with hints of pear and creamy hazelnut. Open early and decant or cellar.
