Di Prima 2024

Tim Atkin MW says Sicily is “one of the most exciting wine regions in Europe, blessed with a combination of abundant sunshine, varied terroirs and good indigenous grapes.” And Di Prima shows off just what Sicily can do.
This expressive Syrah comes from Davide di Prima, whose grandfather, Gaspare, planted the vines decades ago. The vineyards lie on hills overlooking Lago Arancio (Orange Tree Lake), a former river dammed in the 1950s. On rare occasions, when the water levels drop, the ruins of a Moorish temple emerge from the depths.
In the glass, expect a deep ruby colour, vibrant cherry, plum and blackberry fruit with rich, warming spices. This red wine is a superb match with roasted meats such as wild boar or porchetta and also pairs beautifully with rich ragus.
