The Story Behind the Bottle

Pomerol is home to arguably the greatest Merlot in the world and some of Bordeaux’s most expensive reds. Le Pin and Pétrus are the most famous – but nestled nearby is the lesser-known, yet equally superb, Château Certan de May.

Croix de Certan is the second wine of Château Certan de May, made with grapes from some of the estate’s younger vines. Created in limited quantities since the 2015 vintage, it offers the depth and character of its big brother but in a more fruit-forward style.

The wine is made under the guidance of Jean-Claude Berrouet – who is also the winemaker behind the legendary Pétrus. It’s mostly Merlot, backed by the two Cabernets, and matured in the same French oak barrels used for the Grand Vin.
