The Wine
Oregon in America’s Pacific North West boasts a perfect climate, soil and culture for viticulture. That’s for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in particular. It’s the third largest wine region in the States, but stands for small-production wines from its 700+ boutique estates. One of the smallest is Antica Terra in Oregon’s prized Willamette Valley. The cellar lies within the Eola-Amity Hills and is the passion of Maggie Harrison. She’s the former winemaker of another winery with a cult-like following, Sin Non Qua, but then started out on her own. She makes many tiny cuvées of Pinot Noir, often from foot-trodden grapes, naturally fermented and manually plunged down. With beautifully expressive fruit, this is a fine red. Decant early or cellar.

Luxurious, powerful, and yet strangely elegant. Lovely wine
