From a small family domaine in Jurançon, SW France, this is a luscious, single-vineyard dry white. It's pure Gros Manseng, exclusive to this area, and has ripe peach, floral, creamy bonbon notes, with a zip of freshness. Unique and totally delicious.

The Wine
Tony Laithwaite first championed Jurançon Sec 40 years ago. In 2019 he discovered another outstanding white from a tiny, 3-hectare vineyard – Clos de la Vierge. Until 2024, the estate was run by two 70+ year old sisters, Anne-Marie and Christiane, who tended vines that are almost the same age, while their 95-year-old maman looked after the kitchen garden. Today they have sadly lost Anne-Marie but their great wines continue. Clos de la Vierge is made purely from the local superstar grape, Gros Manseng. This variety produces remarkable wine, with richness and weight, what the French term ‘gras’ - lush peachy fruit and floral aromas, with a lovely whip of mineral freshness. Delicious on its own or with garlic chicken or roasted cod loin.
