Flavour Profile
Nestled in the northern Haut-Médoc, between the famous names of Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe, Château Puy Castéra has many prestigious neighbours. It takes its name from a fortress that once stood on a nearby hill.
It’s one of the Médoc’s prized Cru Bourgeois châteaux, a classification updated every five years. Blind tasted by a panel of judges, only the best get Cru Bourgeois status.
A rich Merlot-led blend, with portions of both Cabernets and a little Petit Verdot, the Gold-medal-winning 2022 vintage shows intense black fruits and spice, with tannins that have softened beautifully thanks to time spent ageing in oak barrels. Ideally open early and decant. A fine partner to roast meats, hard cheeses or a warming casserole.
