The Story Behind the Bottle
Sleepy Pomerol was unknown until the second half of the 20th century when Pétrus came to the attention of the world’s most serious claret drinkers. Now it's one of the hottest selling Bordeaux appellations. Even so, the village boasts no grand châteaux – only the Moreau family’s 19th century Château Plince is of notable exception. It's a very small property - just 8.6 hectares of vines on sandy soils. Merlot is the main grape, supported by both Cabernets, all green harvested and pruned back hard to reduces yields and increase seductive richness. Aged in half new oak barrels for 12-18 months, this is a luxurious, textured claret that'll cellar well. Especially coming from the fine 2019 vintage that recieved such high praise from the critics.
