Superb 97-98pt Premièr Grand Cru Classé Saint-Émilion from the Moueix stable. As critic Jeb Dunnock wrote, "If you haven't heard of this château, get on its bandwagon, as it's destined to be one of the greats in Saint-Emilion." Ripe and powerful.

The Story Behind the Bottle
Situated at the highest point of Saint-Émilion's famous limestone plateau, Belair-Monange has long been regarded as one of the finest. The property dates back to Roman times, remarkable in itself and has been rated 1er GCC since the 1855 classification. Ets Jean-Pierre Moueix purchased it in 2008 and immediately set about major renovations. In 2012 the 1er GCC adjacent, Château Magdelaine, was purchased and merged, taking the vineyards to 23 hectares. Monange literally means 'my angel', but was also the maiden name of Jean-Pierre's mother, Anne Adèle. Superb vineyards on the limestone plateau lend minerality and freshness, while the blue-clay slopes bring intensity and length. Aged 16-18 months in 50% new French oak means this is a keeper.
