Blanc de Lynch Bages 2022
Superb, ageworthy white from this renowned Pauillac estate and a wine that's only been in existence since 1990. Taken from a small 5.5-hectare plot, this is very fine white, balancing the toast of new oak with fresh exotic fruit and a mineral core.

The Story Behind the Bottle
Named 'Lynch' after the illustrious family of Irish origin who first owned it and Bages after the hamlet it resides in, this grand Pauillac château's reputation has soared since Jean-Michel Cazes took ownerhship in 1934. His grandson restructured it from 1974 and quality stepped up considerably once again. Its revered white wine was only launched in 1990, using a blend of three of Bordeaux's classic white grapes, grown on a small 5.5-hectare plot on the property. All the juice is barrel-fermented, but only 70% aged in cask, and only half of that in new oak for six months. That seems to give just the right balance of toasty vanilla complexity to the bright fruit. Certainly one to cellar for some time to appreciate it at its best.
