Ardbeg whisky creators set out to make the rawest, smokiest Ardbeg ever. The result is this beautifully smoky dram. It’s certainly no wallflower of a drink, big and bold, it’s a drop for whisky lovers who look for impression. Firstly, you’re hit by the heady aromas of cracked black pepper that mingle with sappy pine resin, and a sharp tang of smoke. Suddenly, an explosive mouthfeel bursts forth with chocolate, creosote and tar. Savoury meats sink into the palate before the long salty finish slinks away. Maturation in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks brings a good helping of sweet smoky spice and an orange tang to the blend. Only 5 years old, it’s the youngest Ardbeg they’ve ever made.
