For a ripe, fruity, bold style of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, reach for the new Whakapappa, so deliciously fresh and zippy. It comes from the less well known Gisborne wine region, about 130km north of Hawke's Bay on the North Island's east coast. This is the first place to see the sun rise each day, receives high levels of sunshine and produces lovely fresh whites. Whakapappa is nearly all Sauvignon Blanc, with a splash of peachy Chardonnay and 2% Viognier to lift the aroma. It makes such a delightful balance of fruit and freshness, the only surprise is that winemakers don't create this sort of blend more often. Chill down and enjoy in large glasses. A perfect glass solo, it's a fruity number with chicken, grilled salmon or summer salads.
