Gavi is a buzz word among lovers of Italian whites, and the mineral, citrus crispness of Villa Broglia Gavi is exceptionally fine. Records show the estate’s Piedmont vineyards date from AD 972. Originally called La Meirana, the property was purchased by textile entrepreneur Bruno Broglia in 1972. His vineyards lie in the Classico part of the region, where the hand harvested Cortese vineyards enjoy ‘best of the best’ Gavi di Gavi status. The family’s wines regularly score 90 points or more, and Tre Bicchieri (top rating) from wine bible Gambero Rosso. Bruno’s sons Paolo and Piero are delighted with their 2018 harvest, giving a racy, dry, classic Gavi with pristine floral and fresh almond character. Enjoy with antipasti, fish or chicken.
