The Story Behind the Bottle
We first met Sam at the Warburn Estate in New South Wales 20+ years back, and have been following him and his wines ever since. They deliver every time with lovely fruity intensity, originality and value. In 2018, he finally decided to go back to his roots and set up solo, in Griffith, New South Wales. He has nurtured partnerships with long standing grower friends and made us two Salvatore wines. This white has already won a Gold, then a Trophy for 'Most Exciting Wine of the Show'! He is a true genius. Here he uses the Italian grape Trebbiano, aged the wine in untoasted barrels, to lend a creaminess, rather than any overt oakiness. An elegant, citrusy charmer, ideal on its own, with panfried fish, prawns with spicy salsa or chicken pilaf.
