More information
Coonawarra is “Australia’s finest red wine region” (The Times). It’s blessed with red clay soils over limestone that lend Cabernets immense concentration and poise. This is an exciting new release from Penley Estate, a name that dates back to 1945. That was when a little red sports car driven by Reginald Lester Tolley rolled up at a function. Both the car and man behind the wheel impressed Judith Anne Penfold. Romance followed, then marriage, cementing two great winemaking dynasties with 400 years of heritage between them. The Penley name was born. It became a wine estate in 1988, when the next generation bought land in Coonawarra, and a winery was added in 1995. From their Casablanca vineyard, this is a rich, impeccably balanced red.
